Rising crime rates, communal tensions, and extremist threats have taken a toll on those who serve to protect its citizens.
Fire service personnel also received recognition for their vital role in rescuing others from burning buildings or treacherous situations. Their contributions are often overlooked in favor of more dramatic acts of bravery, but they remain essential to public safety.
In addition to the gallantry medals, 92 President’s Medals for Distinguished Service were awarded to personnel who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and commitment to their duties. This includes 83 Police Service personnel, four Fire Service personnel, and three Civil Defence and Home Guard personnel. These awards are a testament to the unwavering service of those who put their lives on the line every day.
The MSM – Medals for Meritorious Service – were also awarded to 664 personnel, with 606 going to Police Service personnel. While this may seem like a smaller number compared to the gallantry and distinguished service medals, it speaks volumes about the tireless efforts of those who serve in often-overlooked roles.
